一、表示数目“一”时，在与表示“数字、时间、重量、距离、长度、金钱”的名词连用时；以及一些习惯用语中二者可以换用。如：

a /one hundred 一百

a /one thousand 一千

a /one million一百万

a /one quarter 四分之一，一刻

a /one dozen 一打

a /one month 一个月

a /one kilo一公斤

a /one meter一米

a /one dollar一美元

in a/one word简而言之

One/A fourth of the students came to the gathering.

四分之一的学生参加了聚会。

注意：a(n)和one均可用在某些习语中，但意义有所不同。如果美元、英镑等之后有零头时，只能用one。
